First drum method
The liquid metal is first poured onto the rotating drum, causing a splash of the liquid metal, and then falls into the water to form a pellet. However, the method has been eliminated due to its poor sand formation rate.
Water jet impingement method
The liquid metal is hit and scattered into the water by water jet to cool and solidify, and finally into steel sand. The disadvantage of this method is that it has a large hollow ratio and is easy to form abnormal sand. By changing the section shape of the nozzle, the flow rate and pressure of water jet can be controlled and the sand formation rate can be effectively increased.
Firstly, the molten steel flows to a special disc with a series of small holes around the high-speed rotation. Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid flies out of the disc and falls into the water to form pellets. Compared with the water shot method, the rate of steel shot is higher and the proportion of hollow shot is greatly reduced.
Centrifugal atomization with rotating cone
With the combination of water jet method and centrifugal method, the molten steel is made to form a metal liquid film on the surface of the rotating cone through certain equipment, and then atomized into small droplets under the action of centrifugal force and surface tension and then thrown out. At the same time, the cooling medium is sprayed out in a position perpendicular to the direction of droplet motion, so that the droplet can form into particles quickly.
