Overview of casting steel sand forming

  Casting steel sand is a method of casting the molten metal into the mold and then solidifying it to obtain a certain shape and performance of the casting. The metal parts obtained by casting method are called castings.

  There are many casting methods, including sand casting, metal casting, pressure casting, centrifugal casting and investment casting, among which sand casting is the most widely used.

  The typical process of sand mold casting includes the production of shape and core box, the preparation of molding sand and core sand, the molding of core, the sealing of box, the smelting of metal, the pouring, the sanding, the cleaning and inspection.   The advantages of casting is that it can be cast a variety of size specifications or shape complex castings, and the cost is low, materials from a wide range of sources, so casting is one of the main ways to produce parts or blank in mechanical manufacturing. The main disadvantage of casting is that the mechanical properties and precision of casting are poor, so casting is limited in production. However, castings still account for a large proportion in machine equipment, such as machine tools, internal combustion engines, rolling mills and other machinery, the weight of castings accounts for more than 75% of the total weight of the machine, indicating the importance of casting production in machine manufacturing.
